Find Out If You've Already Been Exposed
Most people find out only after something bad has happened
There's usually a real gap between when your data is stolen and when it's actually used against you. Monitoring shrinks that window from months to hours, so you can change passwords and lock down accounts before the exposure turns into actual harm.
Aura

- ✓ Also watches bank accounts, SSN, and other personal data, not just login credentials
- ✓ Fast alerts mean you can act before exposure turns into actual fraud
Worth knowing: Aura itself was breached in 2026
In March 2026, an Aura employee was phished by phone, giving an attacker roughly an hour of account access. About 900,000 records were taken — but, according to Aura, almost all of it came from a legacy marketing list from a 2021 acquisition, not the database behind Aura's actual monitoring product. Aura says no Social Security numbers, passwords, or financial data were involved.
It's worth knowing that LifeLock's parent company, Gen Digital, had a different kind of incident in December 2022: attackers used passwords stolen from other sites to log into Norton accounts, including Norton Password Manager accounts where stored vault details may have been exposed. Its own systems weren't compromised, but no vendor in this space, including the ones protecting you, is immune to what they protect against.
What kept Aura as our pick: the breach, according to Aura, didn't reach the systems that actually protect you, and the response was fast and transparent — access cut off within about an hour, outside experts brought in, law enforcement notified.
